My Story

Benjamin is an intelligent, driven and resilient young person and the Founder and President of B.R. Meston LTD, formally accessibility #4 Ontario. Benjamin is a Canadian author and youth activist, writing under the name “B.R. Meston” and recently published their first novel entitled Phoenix Rises in June 2019.

Benjamin enjoys writing fantasy novels, short stories and opinion editorials on a wide range of topics. They also have experience as a motivational speaker and policy advisor for the Government of Ontario, the Government of Canada and various organizations in the private sector including Accreditations Canada and 360 Kids Youth Services as well as many others. Benjamin is known as a dedicated advocate and supporter of many social issues and charitable causes, including as a person with a physical disability (cerebral palsy and significant chronic pain) and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. They have always been a strong believer in human rights and access to justice. Moreover, Benjamin has never been afraid to stand up for what they believe in and fight for what is right. A particular importance to Benjamin is the quality for all marginalized people, including those with disabilities.

Over the years, alongside their advocacy, Benjamin has always believed in the importance of giving back to the community and has organized fundraisers for several charitable causes, including Easter Seals Ontario, Ronald McDonald House Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children among others.

Benjamin’s dream is to become a lawyer advocating for and inventing the rights of children in need as well as people of marginalized communities. This dream comes from Benjamin’s experience as a person living with a physical disability. Benjamin faces oppression and discrimination on a daily basis and has witnessed and experienced the oppression felt by children in need from coast to coast. As a result, Benjamin has vowed to work every day to demand a better outcome for all those who face oppression due to their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or disability.

While Benjamin has returned to and is now living in York Region, they will never forget and always carry the lessons they learned while living in a small town outside of Toronto. Prior to returning to York Region, Benjamin spent three years in Ottawa studying law at Carleton University at the undergraduate level. During this time, they were recognized as a student in the top 15% of the law program.

When Benjamin is not writing, they enjoy listening to audiobooks, hanging out with friends, watching documentaries and watching shows on Netflix.
